New Assets and Opportunity Data Available
CFED has just released the 2016 Assets and Opportunity Scorecard, an invaluable source of data on household financial security and policy solutions. The report provides national and state-by-state financial security data including information on savings, jobs, housing, health and education, with some data broken down by race, ethnicity, and gender.
New Report: Building Cooperative Ownership Opportunities in Communities of Color
A new report by the Democracy at Work Institute and Project Equity, The Cooperative Growth Ecosystem, explores the potential of worker-owned businesses as a way to build wealth and ownership in low-income and communities of color. The report is part of the "Building the Inclusive Economy Series," supported by Citi Community Development.
Commentary: Which Policies Will Cut the Racial Wealth Gap
In a recent commentary in Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity, Amy Draub of Demos talks about the role of public policy in widening racial inequality. She talks about the value of a new tool, the Racial Wealth Audit, to assess the impact of public policy on inequality by race, and makes a case for advancing policies that address the racial wealth gap by equalizing the return on income for households of color, so that income is converted to wealth at the same rate as in white households.
