EARN Launches New Program for Spanish-Speaking Savers

Yesterday, EARN announced that their national microsavings program, which targets new low-income savers, will now be offered in Spanish. According to a statement from EARN, “the program is designed to reach the estimated 41 percent of American households with little-to-no savings, to help them build assets.”

SUCCESS Act Would Remove Federal Financial Aid Barriers for Those with Former Drug Convictions

Senators Bob Casey (D-PA) and Orrin Hatch (R-UT) recently introduced the SUCCESS Act (Stopping Unfair Collateral Consequences from Ending Student Success) to repeal the Higher Education Act which has deprived former drug-related offenders from applying for federal grants and loans.

New Briefing Paper: The Gender Wage Gap and Public Policy

Take a look at the Institute for Women’s Policy Research’s (IWPR) new report on the gender wage gap. According to IWPR, the paper “summarizes data on earnings differences between women and men by race and ethnicity, education, and occupation. It then discusses reasons for the gender wage gap, its consequences for women and their families, and policies that can help to close it.”
